WASHINGTON (92 News) – Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and State Bank of Pakistan Governor Dr Reza Baqir held meeting with IMF Managing Director (MD) David Lipton and senior officials of World Bank and International Finance Corporation in Washington. They discussed various matters with the members of World Bank-IMF and heard their suggestions for reforming the economy. During the meeting, they also discussed strategy to fulfill all the conditions of IMF loan. They also spoke at an event “Pakistan: This Time it’s Different” hosted by President Centre for Global Development Masood Ahmed. The event attended by a cross section of individuals from the think-tanks, government, academia and Pakistani diaspora.
WB president, IMF MD and renowned businessmen call on PM

Earlier, the top representatives of World Bank (WB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) called on Prime Minister Imran Khan during his visit in Washington DC.

The WB’s president and the IMF’s acting managing director discussed with the premier the current economic situation of Pakistan and future cooperation with the global lenders.

President World Bank Mr David Malpass and Mr David Lipton, the Acting MD IMF, met with PM Imran Khan at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington DC.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Adviser to PM on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Adviser to PM on Finance Dr  Abdul Hafeez Sheikh were present during the meeting. A delegation of businessmen and investors held a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan at Pakistan Embassy. The delegation which included Zia Chishti, Muhammad Khaishgi and Hasnain Aslam took keen interest in investment in the IT and technology sectors. Businessmen Nasir Javed, Ashraf Qazi and Shoukat Dhanai also called on the premier and discussed investment opportunities in tourism and other sectors. Talking to the businessmen, Prime Minister Imran Khan highlighted investment-friendly environment in Pakistan as a result of steps being taken by the government for ease of doing business.
