Hafeez Sheikh hints at reduction in POL prices in September

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The prices of petrol and petroleum products (POL) may go down next month, hints Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, the advisor to the prime minister on finance. He further says the country's economy is getting improvements in the light of steps being taken by the government. "The government is preparing a road-map for economy to take important decisions for wellbeing of masses," the advisor told reporters after after the meeting of economic team with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the federal capital on Saturday. He said under this roadmap the team will apprise the Prime Minister about all key decisions on weekly basis. Sheikh said the purpose of the meeting was to assess the performance of economy and devise a plan to benefit the common people through developmental projects and current budgetary allocations. He said the Prime Minister directed to accomplish the mega projects speedily for the benefit of people at grassroots level. He said overall economic situation of the country is improving as stock market is indicating positive figures with nine percent increase and current account deficit has decreased to six hundred million dollars. Sheikh said the government wanted to speed up provision of cash donations and Sehat card to the deserving people, adding the government would restore the confidence of business community.
