Hajj corruption case: Hamid Saeed Kazmi released from jail

KARACHI (92 News) – Former religious affairs minister minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi has been released from Adiala Jail on Wednesday.

 

The Islamabad High Court had cleared former Kazmi from all corruption charges.

 

Talking to media after coming out of jail, Kazmi said that he is grateful to God for his release.

 

He said that the stains on his reputation have been washed. Kazmi added he spent the time in prison with the status of a common man.

 

Former federal minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi was sentenced to 16 years in jail in the case, while former DG Hajj Rao Shakeel and joint secretary religious affairs Raja Aftab Aslam were each awarded 40 years and 16 years in prison, respectively by the special court in Islamabad in June last year.
