Hajvery Trust Case: Court partially reopens frozen bank accounts

ISLAMABAD (92 News) –The Accountability Court has on Wednesday ordered to conditionally restore the accounts of former finance minister Ishaq Dar’s charity organization Hajveri Trust. The accountability court (AC) judge Muhammad Bashir heard the case on petition filed by Ishaq Dar to reopen some of his frozen bank accounts. During the proceedings, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) submitted its reply on freezing properties and bank accounts of Ishaq Dar. Qazi Misbah, the counsel of the former minister said that Hajveri Trust was an organization for orphans where hundreds of children were being taken care of. He appealed the court to reopen the accounts as monthly expenses of the orphanage are managed through these accounts. Around Rs 800,000 to Rs1 million are the monthly expenses of the orphanage, the lawyer said, adding that the children would out on the streets if the accounts were not reopened. The court reserved the judgment and later ordered to partially reopen the frozen bank accounts Hajvery Trust and Hajveri Foundation.
