LAHORE (92 News) – An accountability court in Lahore on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz till October 2 in Ramzan Sugar Mills and money laundering cases. Hamza Shehbaz was produced before court as his judicial remand expired. During his appearance, he met with his cousin and PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz. The security had been beefed up on Hamza Shahbaz’s court appearance. Roads adjacent to the accountability court had been blocked and irrelevant persons were not allowed to enter the premises. The hearing today troubled for a while as workers of PML-N forcibly entered Judicial complex and the courtroom to meet their leader. The PML-N workers continued to chant slogans despite several warnings by the judge. A scuffle broke out between the police and some lawyers said to be associated with the PML-N after the former stopped the latter to enter the court’s premises during the hearing of case. Later, the court extended the judicial remand of Hamza Shehbaz for 14 days and ordered to present him again on October 2. Speaking to the journalists, Hamza Shehbaz said the incumbent government has destroyed country’s economy and Pakistan is trapped in troubles. Prime Minister Imran Khan has prepared his political coffin by telling lies and taking u-turns. The PML-N leader said that the incumbent government cannot run even all the leaders of opposition leaders may arrest. On June 26, the court had extended Hamza’s physical remand for 14 days upon the NAB’s request. On June 11, the premier anti-corruption watchdog had arrested Hamza in the same cases and shifted him to the bureau’s headquarter at Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore after the Lahore High Court (LHC) turned down his applications for extension in his interim bail. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in February had filed a reference against the two alleging that the former Punjab chief minister misused his authority by using public funds for the construction of a bridge to facilitate the Ramzan mills, owned by his sons.
