LAHORE (92 News) – PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz was elected as the 21st chief minister of Punjab with 197 votes amid hooliganism on Saturday.

On the orders of the LHC, Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari held the proceedings in the Punjab Assembly Gallery to conduct voting.

The PTI and the PML-Q members boycotted the session. In the beginning of the session, the PTI and PML-Q members tortured the deputy speaker and threw 'lotas' towards him.

The treasury members resorted to against hooliganism when the police entered the assembly. During the scuffle, Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi was injured. Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi has accused the PML-N of torturing him. "The PML-N called goons from Gawalmandi and attacked him. Hamza Shehbaz is involved in the attack," he added.

Addressing the House as the chief minister, Hamza Shehbaz said that the former government had closed the state-of-the-art health projects unjustifiably. "The law and order situation is serious. We will start work on priority basis from Sunday," he declared.

He said that bureaucrats having good reputation will be brought to the province. "The slot of the Public Accounts Committee chairman will be given to the opposition," he added. He also announced to bring a new speaker in the Punjab Assembly.
