LAHORE (92 News) – Legendary Bowler and 'Sultan of Swing' Wasim Akram is celebrating his birthday today (Friday) as he turned 50. Sultan of Swing has completed his 50 on the pitch of life. The legendary bowler, who turns 50 today, made his debut in 1985 and retired in 2003. Wasim Akram is considered the best left-arm pacer to play international cricket by far. With his swift action, deadly yorkers and ability to reverse swing the ball like no other, Akram remained the highest wicket-taker in ODIs with 502 scalps for nearly six years before Muttiah Muralitharan surpassed him in 2009. Akram is one of the only three players to take two hat-tricks in ODIs and is one of the four cricketers in the world to have more than one Test hat-tricks. During his prime in 1999, Akram bagged the two Test hat-tricks within a span of nine days. The cricket fraternity took to social media to express their delight on Friday to celebrate the occasion of one of its champion cricketers turning 50.
