Happy Birthday to Pakistan’s cricketing legend Javed Miandad
LAHORE (92 News) – Pakistani cricketing legend Javed Miandad is celebrating his 63rd birthday today (Friday). He was born on 12th June 1957.
Javed Miandad is arguably the greatest batsman Pakistan has ever produced. Miandad was noted for his aggressive batting technique and his nature was exactly what Pakistan needed. The prolific batsman could change the match within balls and guide his country home with his batting.
He played a pivotal role in Pakistan's Austral-Asia Cup 1986 win in which he hit a memorable last ball six against India in the final.
Former Pakistan batsman, who has represented the national side in a total of 357 international matches.
The right handed batsman contributed significantly to help Pakistan win the ICC Cricket World Cup in 1992.
Miandad played 124 test matches for Pakistan and scored 8832 runs with 23 centuries and 43 half centuries. His high score in test cricket was 280 runs.
He played 233 one-day internations and scored 7381 runs with eight centuries and 50 half-centuries. His highest score was 119 runs.
Javed Miandad played cricket for Pakistan from 1975 to 1996 and is the only cricketer from the sub-continent country to represent Pakistan in six ICC World cups from 1975 to 1996.
He has also worked as the coach for Pakistan cricket team for about three times.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) took to its official Twitter handle and extended warm birthday greetings to former Pakistan coach Miandad, who turned 63 on Friday.
Posting a picture of Miandad from a red-ball cricket match, the world's cricket governing body listed down the career stats of the former player.
"1992 cricketworldcup winner, One of the only two players to appear in six World Cups, Youngest player to score a Test double ton, Holds the record for the most consecutive ODI fifties, Inducted into the #ICCHallofFame in 2009. Happy birthday to Pakistan legend Javed Miandad," the ICC wrote.
