Harassing, assaulting couple: Usman Mirza's remand extended till Sep 10

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The court extended the remand of Usman Mirza, accused of harassing and assaulting a couple in Islamabad, and his accomplices till September 10 on Friday.

Mirza, Idris Qayyum Butt, Atta-ur-Rehman, and Farhan were presented in a district and sessions court after the completion of their 14-day judicial remand.

Judicial Magistrate Waqar Gondal heard the case and ordered all SHOs investigating the case to submit their reports by September 10.

Earlier, the police had included rape, extortion charges in Usman Mirza case for harassing and assaulting a couple in Islamabad.

Islamabad Police DIG Afzal Kausar had said that the following sections 375 (rape), 384 (punishment for extortion), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 114 (abettor present when offence is committed), 395 (punishment of dacoity), 496-A (enticing or taking away or detaining with criminal intent a woman), 377-B (sexual abuse) of the Pakistan Penal Code have been included in the FIR registered against Usman Mirza.

The men were arrested after videos of the violence went viral on social media. The incident occurred two months back, when Usman allegedly along with his two other accomplices barged into an apartment in the E-11 sector of Islamabad and shot an obscene video of a girl.

The police took prompt action and arrested the suspects after the videos went viral on social media.

According to the text of the FIR, the incident took place in the apartments located in E-11 where five to six armed men kept both of them in custody and also tortured them. Police say the video was made four to five months ago.

On the other hand, DC Islamabad Hamza Shafqat says that the video is from a few months ago. "Please delete the video and do not share," he requested from the citizens.
