Heavy downpours turn roads into puddles in Lahore

LAHORE (92 News) – Low to Heavy downpours in the provincial capital turned the weather pleasant but filled the roads with water on Monday. Lahore and adjacent areas received heavy downpour due to which many areas in the provincial capital are facing power failures and severe traffic jam affecting the normal life. The torrential rain inundated the streets of the capital city and disturbed routine lives of the citizens. The rain turned the city roads into canals. A severe traffic jam was witnessed after the rain. Long queues of vehicles could be seen on Jail Road, Liberty Chowk, Kalma Chowk Underpass and other areas. Citizens faced numerous problems due to the traffic jam. Several motorcycles and vehicles stopped working due to inundation of roads in the city. Earlier, in Karachi, five more people have died in rain related incidents in different areas on Sunday. So far, the death toll has risen to fourteen during heavy downpour across Sindh. According to hospital sources, three of them were electrocuted while another two died as the roof of house caved in. Meanwhile, wide spread intermittent rain is being received by Karachi along with other districts of Sindh which is expected to continue till Monday evening.
