Heavy rain lashes Karachi, adjoining areas

KARACHI (92 News) – Heat-stricken residents of Karachi received respite from the sweltering heat as the rain turned the weather pleasant here on Saturday. According to the details garnered, the heavy monsoon rain lashed Karachi and its adjoining areas including Nazimabad, Qayyumabad, Korangi, Landhi and Gulistan-e-Johar. The incessant rain has flooded roads and streets in many parts of the city. Many vehicles including motorbikes and cars stopped due to the rain. Heavy rains which lashed Karachi caused havoc in the low lying areas as water gushed into the houses besides inundating the streets causing huge trouble for the residents. On the other hand, following the rainfall, Hundreds of feeders of K-Electric tripped, disrupting the supply of electricity to many areas. There were also complaints of broken electricity wires. The K-Electric, advised locals to stay away from electric poles, PMTs, and broken electric wires, while also informing that repair work is underway.
