Heavy rain lashes parts of country

LAHORE (92 News) – Rain-thundershower occurred in different areas of in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sind and Punjab during the last twelve hours. Rain with thick clouds took the city by surprise in the morning when weather turned pleasant. Heavy rain was reported in different cities including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Okara, Sargodha and Mianwali after which lowland areas completely submerged under rain water. According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, Dera Ismail Khan received 53 millimeter rain, Okara- 50 mm, Mianwali 29 mm and Faisalabad 22 millimeter. Rain-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls is expected at a number of places in Islamabad, Upper Punjab (Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Lahore divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while at scattered places in Multan, D.G. Khan, Bahawalpur Malakand, Hazara, D.I. Khan divisions), upper FATA during the next twelve hours. The heavy downpour may generate flash flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas of Northeast Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Temperature of some major cities recorded on Monday morning: Islamabad twenty-five degree centigrade, Lahore twenty-seven, Karachi twenty-eight, Peshawar twenty-nine  Quetta twenty-four, Gilgit nineteen, Murree twenty and Muzaffarabad twenty-two degree centigrade.
