Heavy rain lashes parts of Punjab, inundates low-lying areas in Lahore

LAHORE (92 News) - Intermittent rains have inundated low-lying areas in Lahore and power outages have further added difficulties to people’s lives on Monday. According to the details, Davis Road, Garhi Shahu, UET, Singhpura, Begumpura, Lakshmi Chowk, Jain Mandir, Anarkali, Mozang Chungi, Haji Camp, Naulakha and Ichhra are flooded. Gulberg, Township, Model Town, Faisal Town, Lakshmi Chowk and other parts of the provincial capital witnessed downpour. It has been reported that there is no proper system to drain out the rainwater in these areas. On the other hand, torrential rains are predicted in Balochistan, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. The spell is forecast to continue for two days. Apart from Lahore, other parts of Punjab including Gujarat, Wazirabad and Attock also received rains. In Karachi, the rains have wreaked havoc across the city, flooding several highways and residential areas, making the lives of citizens miserable. A day earlier, several areas were submerged by two feet due to a heavy rain in the city. Gulberg received maximum 45mm of rain. Several areas, including Raiwind Road, Upper Mall, Airport Road and Tajpura, received the heavy rain. Traffic was badly affected due to the rainwater accumulated on roads.
