Heavy rains forecast in different areas from Sunday; flood warning issued

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Met Office has predicted scattered heavy rain with thunderstorm in the country from Saturday to Tuesday. A spokesman for the Met Office informed that a westerly wave is likely to enter upper parts of Pakistan during coming weekend and some post-monsoon currents are also expected to penetrate in south-eastern parts of the country during the same time. Under the influence of these meteorological conditions, scattered rain with dust-thundershower is expected in KP (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu and DI Khan divisions), FATA, Islamabad, Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Multan and DG Khan divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during Sunday to Tuesday. While scattered rain-thunderstorm is also expected in Eastern parts of Sindh (Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad and Hyderabad divisions) during Saturday to Monday. Isolated heavy falls are also expected in Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Bahawalpur divisions on Sunday/ Monday and Sahiwal, Lahore and Gujranwala divisions on Monday/Tuesday. Meanwhile, exceptionally high flood situation is expected in Chenab and Jhelum rivers from September 21 to 25. Flood situation in Sutlej and Ravi rivers will depend on the releases from Indian reservoirs. Exceptionally high flood situation is also expected in the Nullahs of rivers Ravi and Chenab during the same period.
