Hotel owner among 15 booked for torturing Andher Nagri team

SHEIKHUPURA (92 News) – Police have on Sunday lodged a case against the 15 persons for torturing 92 News program Andher Nagri’s team and holding them hostage. As per details, the police investigation proved that the Andher Nagari Anchor Qaisar Khan and his team was tortured and illegally imprisoned. Police have lodged a case against 15 persons including Yawar Saeed, Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Hanif and 12 unidentified men. Earlier on Friday, violent people held Andher Nagari Anchor Qaisar Khan and his team hostage for conducting a program on unhygienic bakery items. The attackers also thrashed Qaisar Khan and his team besides snatching their camera. The attackers also beat up 92 News Correspondent Safdar Shaheen. On the other hand, journalists took out rallies and stage demonstrations to express solidarity with 92 News across the country. In Gujranwala, journalistic organizations took out a rally outside Press Club and chanted slogans against the police for registering a fake case against Andher Nagri team. They demanded immediate withdrawal of the fake case against Andher Nagari team. In Hafizabad, journalists staged a demonstration at Fawara Chowk. The Sheikhupura District Bar Association president also condemned the incident and demanded action against hoodlums. In Nankana Sahib, a protest rally was taken out. Traders also participated in the rally. Rallies were also taken in Okara, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Bhakkar, Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Larkana. The protesters carrying placards and banners chanted slogans against the Sheikhupura DPO. They demanded that the fake case against Andher Nagri team should be withdrawn and action be taken against the people in involved in selling unhygienic food items.
