Hudaibiya Paper Mills Case: SC orders to submit reference details till Dec 11

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan has on Tuesday adjourned hearing of plea of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) seeking reopening of the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case against the Sharif family till December 11. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Mushir Alam heard the case in Islamabad on Tuesday. During the proceedings, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) presented volume-8 of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) before the top court. The court ordered to present complete details of the reference and the proceedings and orders of NAB court of the same case. The Supreme Court also ordered to present old and new procedures of the appointment of anti-graft watchdog chairman. On November 13, the bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa was dissolved after Justice Khosa recused himself from the bench and referred the matter to the chief justice of Pakistan for constituting another bench. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa had remarked that the court office must have mistakenly put up the case in front of him. “The Registrar Office might not have read my Panama Case judgment in which I wrote 14 paragraphs on Hudaibiya Paper Mills reference,” he added. Previously, in September, the apex court had accepted National Accountability Court (NAB)'s appeal regarding Hudaibiya Paper Mills case for hearing. The country's anti-graft watchdog had submitted an appeal in the apex court to reopen the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case in light of the fresh evidence disclosed in the JIT report. The NAB urged the Supreme Court to reject Lahore High Court’s decision from March 2014 so as to facilitate further investigation of the scandal.
