Hundreds protest in Jaranwala against rape, murder of minor girl

JARANWALA (92 News) – Hundreds of people including the parents on Monday took to the streets against brutal rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl in Jaranwala. The protest erupted in the city of Jaranwala after the rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl. The agitating protesters blocked the entry and exit routes of the city. The protesters include parents of the minor girl, lawyers and citizens. The protesters set ablaze tires and blocked the roads for traffic. Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Inspector General of Police took notice of the incident and sought report. On the other hand, the funeral prayer of the minor girl was offered. Earlier, the body of the minor girl was recovered from fields near her house on Sunday. The autopsy report confirmed the 7-year-old was sexually assaulted before being strangled to death. Additionally, one of her legs was also amputated. Police have registered a case against unknown suspects at Jaranwala’s City Station.
