'I am definitely very happy after making return in national team,' Sharjeel

LAHORE (92 News) - Pakistani opener batsman Sharjeel Khan says he is definitely very happy after making return in national team.

It is pertinent to mention here that the left-hander has been included in the squad of the national team for the 20-over format for the upcoming tours.

Talking to the journalists in a virtual press conference on Tuesday, the Pakistani cricketer expressed hope to contribute to a winning cause for Pakistan in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa and Zimbabwe.

“I am definitely very happy after making a return in the national team. I have worked really hard in the last seven months where I played the full domestic season. I played with focus and I am glad that it paid dividend," Sharjeel Khan said.

"Since I have been only selected in the T20I squad, I would like to go to South Africa, where I have never played before, and evaluate the conditions before the series starts. My focus is to produce the kind of performance which can help Pakistan in winning crucial matches.”

Pakistan is scheduled to play three one day internationals and four Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against South Africa from April 2 till April 16.

After the South Africa tour, the team will depart to Zimbabwe where they will play two Tests and three T20Is against the Chevrons.

Skipper Babar Azam and former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram had commented about his fitness. “Sharjeel Khan will work on his fitness. You cannot expect him to become [as fit as] Shadab Khan overnight,” Babar had said.

While the legendary fast bowler had said that Sharjeel has promised him that he would work on his fitness.
