October 25, 2015
NEW DELHI (92 News) – Former Indian Naval Chief Admiral L Ramdas has on Sunday written an open letter to Indian President Parnab Mukherji and Prime Minister Narendra Modi declaring Shiv Sena an extremist. The former Naval chief strongly condemned the attacks on minorities and Dalits under the rule of the current government. "The Hinduism I knew and experienced was gentle, inclusive, and filled with extraordinary diversity," writes Ramdas in the letter. "Today, as a veteran in my eighties, I am forced to hang my head in shame." "Today, a Muslim has to prove his or her loyalty, and they are being repeatedly put in a situation where their places of worship are under attack, as indeed their eating habits, and other basic freedoms," writes Ramdas. He requested the premier and president to to ‘stem the rot’ of such attacks to restore people’s faith in democracy.
