I planned to start a real estate business, alleged CIA agent tells investigators

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – A US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agent - who was arrested yesterday has on Sunday made startling revelations to the investigating agencies. A CIA agent previously deported from Pakistan on charges of espionage was arrested in the federal capital for illegally reentering the country. He told the investigating agencies that he had lived in more than 50 countries in the world but he liked Pakistan most and he was planning to start real estate business in the country. Sources privy to the investigating agency said that the alleged CIA agent Barrett wanted to achieve his targets under the guise of business. The investigating agency has also collected his old record. Matthew Barrett was seized at a guesthouse in the capital and taken into custody. He was expelled from Pakistan in 2011 but he somehow managed to reenter in through the suspected negligence on part of the immigration officials at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad. Davis was arrested by the Pakistan police but the US government said he qualified for diplomatic immunity because he was an employee at the US consulate in Lahore. He was released three months later, in May 2011, "after weeks of secret negotiations between American and Pakistani officials, a pledge of millions of dollars in "blood money" to the victims' families, and quiet political pressure by Pakistani officials on the courts."
