WASHINGTON (92 News) – The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has released Pandora Papers which include more than 700 Pakistanis who made offshore companies.

Another global scandal like Panama Papers was unfolded as the ICIJ released Pandora Papers.

As per details, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, Moonis Elahi, Faisal Vawda, Ishaq Dar’s son, Sharjeel Memon, Khusro Bakhtiar, Abdul Aleem Khan are among others having alleged links with the offshore companies. Axact CEO Shoaib Sheikh has also been included in the Pandora Papers.

Moreover, the leaked documents also expose offshore companies of King of Jordan Shah Abdullah, the Qatar’s ruler, the presidents of Ukraine, Kenya and Ecuador, the prime minister of the Czech Republic and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

On the other hand, Prime minister Imran Khan has announced a probe against all Pakistanis named in the Pandora Papers.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, he welcomed the Pandora Papers exposing the ill-gotten wealth of elites, accumulated through tax-evasion and corruption and laundered out to financial havens.

He said that the UNSG's Panel FACTI calculated staggering 7 trillion dollars in stolen assets stocked in largely offshore havens.

PM Imran Khan said that his over-two decades struggle has been promised on the belief that countries are not poor, but corruption causes poverty because money is diverted from being invested in their people.

He further said that this resource-theft also causes devaluation, leading to thousands of poverty-related deaths.

The prime minister called on the international community to treat this grave injustice as similar to the climate change crisis.
