RAWALPINDI (92 News) – DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor has said that the verdict of International Court of Justice (ICJ) is a victory for Pakistan. Talking to 92 News exclusively, he said that the ICJ had not nullified the sentence awarded to Kulbhushan Jadhav by the military court. “Today is another Feb 27 for India as it once again got a surprise,” he said. The DG ISPR said that the Indian terrorist Kulbhushan Jadhav does not deserve the consular access. “We managed a meeting of Kulbhushan Jadhav with his wife and mother on humanitarian grounds,” he said. Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that the mercy plea of Kulbhushan is with COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa who did not made the decision on it because the case was in the ICJ. He said that Judge Tassaduq Hussain Jilani had written a dissenting note on technical grounds. He thanked the International Court of Justice, saying the verdict is the best one. “We stated that Kulbhushan’s sentence is as per law and our stance was accepted,” he said. The DG ISPR said that the court had also accepted Pakistan’s stance that Kulbhushan travelled on a fake passport. He lauded the performance of the legal team led by Attorney General Anwar Mansoor. “The appointment of a suitable lawyer in the case was a difficult phase. The key responsibility was assigned to Khawar Qureshi,” he said. The DG ISPR said that the India media had again today showed irresponsibility. “Indian media had made so-called claims before the ICJ verdict,” he said. Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that the Pakistani media and journalists displayed extreme responsibility which aired the news after it broke.
