IG Prisons denies withdrawal of AC, TV facilities from Nawaz Sharif’s room

LAHORE (92 News) – IG Prisons Punjab Mirza Shahid Saleem Baig has denied the reports about withdrawal of the facilities of air-conditioner and television from the room of former premier Nawaz Sharif in Kot Lakhpat Jail. In a statement on Thursday, he said that the reports about the withdrawal of facilities from Nawaz Sharif are incorrect. “No reduction has been made in the facilities given to Nawaz Sharif,” he said. He said that the jail superintendent had neither received such orders nor a notification was issued in this regard. The IG Prisons clarified that he had not received such orders from the Home Department. Meanwhile, Kot Lakhpat Jail Superintendent Ijaz Asghar also denied the reports about withdrawal of the facilities of AC and TV from the room of Nawaz Sharif. “Action will be taken if he received such orders,” he said. On the other hand, Dr Shahbaz Gill, spokesperson for Punjab chief minister, has also denied the report about the withdrawal of facilities of AC and TV from the room of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. In his address to the Pakistani community in the US on Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced to withdraw the facilities of AC and television from jailed politicians Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari.
