IHC grants transit bail to SECP chairman Zafar Hijazi for a week

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday granted the transit bail to Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) chairman Zafar Hijazi until July 17.

Ansar Sheikh, the counsel of Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) chairman Zafar Hijazi filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking bail before arrest of his client.

The court raised objection on the petition and remarked that the application can only be filed relevant forum. However, the hearing was later fixed for the court of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani with the registrar’s objections.

Earlier, the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) had registered a case against the SECP chairman for alleged tampering in the record of Chauhdry sugar mills.

The special bench of the Supreme Court overseeing the implementation of the Panama case verdict had ordered to lodge FIR against Zafar Hijazi.
