March 29, 2018
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday suspended the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision of removing Dr Farooq Sattar as Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) convener. MQM leader Farooq Sattar had challenged Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) decision of removing him as party’s convener in Islamabad High Court (IHC). Sattar had filed a writ against ECP for announcing verdict in party’s Bahadurabad faction’s favor and demanded to annul his removal as convener. On March 26, a five-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan had removed Farooq Sattar from the post of party convenership. While dismissing objections of Farooq Sattar, CEC also nulified the intra-party elections of PIB wing.
