IHC conducts hearing on plea against amendment in Election Act 2017

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) has conducted hearing on application against amendment in election act 2017 through ordinance.

Justice of IHC Justice Amir Farooq conducted hearing on the application of former Chairman Union Council Sardar Mehtab.

Council of applicant Advocate Adil Aziz Qazi said that which amendment has been made through ordinance? “Public office holders became eligible of participating in elections campaigns through election act amendment,” he added.

He said that amendment ordinance is based bad intentions. “It seems like the government had earlier prepared the draft of ordinance. The government issued amendment act just after postponing the sessions of parliament,” he concluded.

Meanwhile the court has issued notice to secretary of President and attorney journal.
