IHC court bans Valentine's Day celebrations in public places
February 13, 2017
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court on February 13 imposed a ban on Valentine’s Day celebrations across the country in public places and government offices just a day ahead of Valentine’s Day. The order by the top court came during a hearing of a petition arguing that Valentine's Day, February 14, is not a part of Muslim tradition. The court order stated that festivities related to Valentine's Day have been banned in public places as well as on an official level. The IHC also ordered the Television channels to stop special transmission related to the day. As per the court’s order, the print media has also been asked to not publish anything that promotes the day. Pakistan had also barred people from celebrating Valentine’s Day in 2016.
