IHC declares construction of Navy Club along Rawal Lake as illegal

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday declared the construction of Navy Club along Rawal Lake as illegal, ordering to demolish the building within three weeks.

The court also ordered the misconduct proceedings against former Naval Chief Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

In the written 45-page verdict, the court ruled that it was not in the ambit of the Pak Navy to participate in any real estate work. "The CDA has no power to issue NOC to naval farms. The transfer of land in the name of Pakistan Navy Headquarters is illegal and unconstitutional," it observed.

The court also ordered forensic audit of Naval farms and Navy Club through court to assess the loss caused to the national exchequer.
