IHC declares plea for release of journalist Mohsin Baig as non-maintainble

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday declared the plea for release of journalist Mohsin Baig as non-maintainable.

Expressing his indignation during the hearing of the case, Chief Justice Athar Minallah questioned that whether the FIA a rascal agency or there is martial law in the country. "This case is the biggest example of the misuse of the powers. The FIA is busy protecting the respect of the public representatives while ignoring its job. No one should worry about criticism," he observed.

The court also summoned the attorney general and adjourned the hearing till February 24. The court observed that it would not give any observation on whatever happened. "The petitioner should inform the trial court," it ruled.

The court also disposed of the plea to remove the ATA sections from the FIR after it was withdrawal.

On the other hand, the police produced Mohsin Baig in the ATC that remanded him in the police custody for two days.

His counsels have filed another petition. The court ordered to produce the medical report of Mohsin Baig. The court also issued a notice to the Poly Clinic medical superintendent along with record on February 23.
