ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday extended the interim bail of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) leader Akram Durrani till January 15. Hearing the petition, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the NAB should satisfy court as why it wants to arrest Akram Durrani. “Corruption should be visible if it is a corruption case. How will they arrest a public office holder after protecting all bureaucrats,” he ruled. The IHC CJ remarked that the NAB will have to answer the questions under the new NAB Ordinance. “The court will strengthen, not weaken, the NAB. The corrupt should be awarded exemplary punishments, but the prosecution should be fair. The counsel said that his client Akram Durrani does not face the allegation of financial benefits. Akram Durrani faces the cases of assets beyond means, illegal appointments and plots allotment. On October 2, 2018, Akram Khan Durrani became leader of the opposition in the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
