IHC extends Nasir Janjua’s bail in Judge’s video scandal

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday extended the pre-arrest bail of Nasir Janjua, one of the main suspect in video scandal of accountability judge Arshad Malik, till tomorrow. IHC’s acting chief justice Aamer Farooq announced the reserved verdict and barred the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to arrest Nasir Janjua. On the other hand, the FIA had opposed the bail plea of Janjua. The court directed Nasir Janjua to approach concerned forum for pre-arrest bail. However, the Cybercrime wing of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team was also present in the premises of the court. Last week, Janjua had filed a petition in the IHC seeking pre-arrest bail in case of blackmailing the accountability court judge. The court also granted Janjua protective bail till July 31. It is pertinent to mention here that Nasir Janjua was alleged for giving threat and bribe offer worth of billions rupees to Judge Arshad Malik. The FIR has been registered against Mian Tariq and others on the complaint of Judge Arshad Malik in the cybercrime wing. In the FIR, it states that the video shown by PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz in a press conference was tampered and electronic forged. It also states that the meeting with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his son Hussain Nawaz Was conducted by blackmailer. In the FIR, the petitioner adopted a stance that Mian Tariq gave him drug mixed food and recorded an immoral video which was sold to PML-N leader before some month. The PML-N leader blackmailed him on behalf of video. He also mentioned that Maryam Nawaz, Shehbaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi surfaced tempered video. He requested to take action against all the people who involved in the conspiracy. On July 7, a video footage shown by Maryam Nawaz at a press conference was baseless and contrary to facts, said Accountability Court judge Arshad Malik.

Rejecting the allegations leveled by the PML-N leaders, the judge clarified in an official statement that the video shown to media is fake.

A press release while quoting Arshad Malik further said the conversation presented to media in video, was totally wrong and out of context.
