IHC orders special court to stop hearing of cipher case immediately

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday ordered the Official Secret Act special court to stop the hearing of the cipher case immediately.

The court issued the stay order on the intra-court appeal of the PTI chairman. The court summoned all record regarding the jail trial on November 16.

Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan contended that the federal cabinet had approved the jail trial.

Justice Mian Gull Hassan Aurangzeb remarked that the court will go through the content of the notification.

" What were the unusual circumstances that led to the conduct of the trial this way? The court has the power about the trial. The trial of the Indian former prime minister Indira Gandhi case was conducted in jail and the person being tried in the cipher case is also a former prime minister," he observed.
