IHC orders transfer of Al-Azizia, Flagship references to another court

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday granted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s petition for transfer of Al-Azizia and Flagship Investment references against him to another court. The court adjourned the hearing of an appeal against the conviction of Capt (retired) Safdar in the Avenfield reference until Wednesday. Appeals of Nawaz and daughter Maryam against conviction in the same case were adjourned till Monday. A two-member bench of the IHC, comprising Justices Aamer Farooq and Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, ordered that the pending trials be transferred to another accountability court. The judgment had been reserved after counsel for both sides concluded their arguments earlier in the day. Now the accountability court No 2 judge will hear the references.
