IHC rejects bail pleas of Hussain Lawai, Taha Raza in fake bank accounts case

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Saturday rejected the post-arrest bail pleas filed by ex-president Pakistan Stock Exchange Hussain Lawai and senior-vice president Summit Bank Taha Raza in fake bank accounts case. A two-member bench comprising Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani issued the verdict, saying the accused prima facie had links with the case. The accused carried important portfolios in the Summit Bank. The bench observed the bail application on medical grounds was not merit-based. The court in its ruling opined that corruption was spreading in the society like cancer and would lead the country to destruction if it was not dealt with iron hands. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had taken Hussain Lawai and Taha Raza into custody in connection with the money laundering case in July last year.
