ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected the plea of Prime Minister Imran Khan to stop the proceedings of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) notice.

During the hearing, Justice Aamer Farooq remarked that no constitutional power can be abolished by formulating a law. "The government has setup an ordinance factory. The ECP notice might have exceeded its power. But you (PM) should have appeared before the ECP to express his good intention," he ruled.

The court observed that how work can continue if everyone determines his domain.

Barrister Ali Zafar contended that the ECP code of conduct cannot be above the law. "The ECP code of conduct formed for political parties does not negate the law approved by the parliament," he stated.

He appealed to the court to suspend the notice issued by the ECP for violation of the code of conduct. The ECP issued the notice for March 28, seeking a reply from the ECP and Cabinet secretary.
