ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday rejected the plea seeking a ban on the speeches of Nawaz Sharif, terming it non-maintainable.

Announcing the five-page reserved verdict, Chief Justice Athar Minallah ruled that the High Court's interference for imposing a ban on the speeches of Nawaz Sharif is incorrect. "It is not a case pertaining to public importance. The court cannot interfere if an alternate procedure is available," he ruled.

The petitioner, through an application filed by Adnan Iqbal advocate, contended that Nawaz Sharif had tried to malign the state institutions in his speech on September 20.
