ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) reserved the verdict on formation of a commission for a probe into the alleged leaked audio of former chief justice Saqib Nisar.

During the hearing on Friday, Attorney General Khalid Javed Khan contended that the real does not exist and it was enough basis to reject the application.

"If we conduct the inquiry, we will encourage the social media and set the example of holding an inquiry into each lie or truth on the social media," he stated. After completion of the arguments of both parties, the court reserved the verdict.

Sindh High Court Bar Association president Salahuddin Ahmed had filed a petition seeking a commission for investigations into an alleged audio tape by former chief justice Saqib Nisar and other allegations against the judiciary.

He contended that the audio tape gives the impression that the judiciary is under pressure from external powers. "It is mandatory to determine whether the audio tape is original or fake. The judiciary should form an independent commission to protect its name," he added.

He stated that the audio tape had damaged the dignity of the judiciary. "It is necessary to restore the confidence of the people in the independent and impartial judiciary," he maintained.

He had demanded that an independent commission comprising of civil society members, journalists, lawyers and judges should be formed for a probe into the matter.
