IHC restores HEC Chairman Tariq Javed Banuri

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday restored Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Tariq Javed Banuri.

The short and reserved verdict was announced by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aamer Farooq.

The court also declared the notification regarding dismissal of Tariq Javed Banuri as illegal.

On March 27 last, the government had reduced the service tenure of Tariq Javed Banuri to two years from four years through an ordinance. Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had appointed him as HEC chairman in May 2018.
