ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday sought a reply from Prime Minister Imran Khan in a Rs10 billion defamation suit filed by him against PML-N leader Khawaja Asif.

The court also stopped the trial court from continuing the proceedings further.

During the hearing, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the defamation suit should have been decided within two months. "The case was filed in 2012 and the questions have been clarified in 2021. Who is responsible for the delay?" he observed.

The counsel for Khawaja Asif replied that delayed was from both sides. "Khawaja Asif was in the custody of the NAB. Imran Khan did not pursue the case in the beginning and later started pursuing the case," he stated.

Later, the case was adjourned till January 12.
