IHK: Indian forces intensify checking, frisking ahead of Republic Day

SRINAGAR (92 News) – In Indian-held Jammu Kashmir (IHK), the Indian forces have intensified checking and frisking in the name of so-called security measures ahead of India’s Republic Day on Saturday.
Indian troops harass family, desecrate martyr’s banners
In IHK, Indian troops harassed the family and mourners and desecrated the banners of martyr, Syed Rubaan Shah in Shopian district. Hours after Syed Rubaan Shah, one of the three martyrs killed in Budgam on Sunday, was laid to rest, the Indian troops entered his home at Nazneenpora in Shopian and harassed his family members, Syed Imran Shah, the brother of the martyr, said. Imran said, “Hours after the burial of my beloved brother, Indian troops entered our house and scolded my parents, guests and neighbours. The banners of my martyr brother were desecrated and then all the banners were taken down one by one.” “My mother even emotionally pleaded to them that she has just lost her son. If he is dead now what else do they want,” Imran said. After five back-to-back funeral prayers, Syed Rubaan Shah was laid to rest by Wednesday afternoon at his ancestral graveyard. A masked mujahid also gave a gun salute to his comrade.
Thousands attend funerals of martyred youth in IHK
  In IHK, thousands of people, braving inclement weather conditions, attended the funeral prayers of three youth in Baramulla town, on Thursday. The youth identified as, Suhaib Farooq Akhoon, Mohsin Mushtaq Butt and Nasir Ahmad Darzi, were killed by the Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in Binner area of Baramulla district, yesterday. Despite shutdown and restrictions, large number of people from various localities reached Khanpora and Old Town areas of the district to participate in the last rites of the martyred youth. Amid vociferous pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, the mourners including men and women marched with the bodies of the martyrs before lowering them in their last abodes. Pakistani flags were also seen being waved on the occasion. Media reports quoting witnesses said that the forces had sealed several roads in Khanpora and Old Town areas to limit the number of mourners in the funerals of the martyred youth. They said that heavy contingent of Indian police and paramilitary personnel were deployed in the town early Thursday morning. Internet remained suspended for the second consecutive day, today, in the district. Complete shutdown is also being observed in Baramulla district to mourn the killings.
