IHK police thrash students at NIT Srinagar campus

SRINAGAR (92 News) – Indian-held Kashmir police have on Wednesday thrashed and baton charged students at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar campus. The clashes broke out in the campus following the Indian team’s defeat in ICC World T20, while the agitating students shouted ‘you are Indian dogs’. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that if Mehbooba Mufti had said "Bharat Mata ki Jai" after taking oath as Jammu and Kashmir CM, that would have sent a good message across the state. Indian police and security forces were deployed at the campus, while the examinations at the campus were cancelled, however, the classes resumed. Criticizing the Indian government’s dealing of the ongoing unrest at the National Institute of Technology in summer capital of disputed Jammu and Kashmir region, former regional chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday described the deployment of paramilitary in the institution as ‘abnormal’.
