October 8, 2015
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has on Thursday rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf’s (PTI) stance in party fund corruption case and announced safe verdict. A four-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan heard a petition filed by the former PTI information secretary Akbar S Babar. The CEC Sardar Raza Khan said in its verdict that the Election Commission can hear the petitions regarding matters pertaining to the funds of any political party and the ECP has the authority to investigate allegations over party funds. The ECP said that the hearing of the case will be formally held from October 10. The former PTI leader Akbar S Babar said that he accepts the challenge of PTI leader Chaudhry Sarwar for filing petition in US court, adding that now a case of illegal funding of PTI will be filed in US. Then PTI’s Finance Secretary Sardar Azhar said that the allegations of illegal funding are baseless.
