LAHORE (92 News) - Governor State Bank Murtaza Syed has said that Pakistan's dealings with the IMF are going in the right direction and IMF is satisfied with our economic policies.

In a statement, Murtaza Syed said that IMF has experience in dealing with countries like Pakistan. “Pakistan's dealings with IMF are going in the right direction. IMF is satisfied with our economic policies. The Staff Level Agreement also means that our economic policies are moving in the right direction.

“Inflation is increasing worldwide. The next twelve months are also difficult for the global economy. Countries that have the IMF program are the only ones that have survived. Oil financing will also be done soon,” he added.

Murtaza Syed said that Pakistan's external debt is 40% of GDP while short-term external debt is only 7% of GDP. “This rate is much higher in Ghana, Zambia, Sri Lanka and other countries.
