Imran Khan challenges arrest warrant in IHC

Imran Khan challenges arrest warrant in IHC
October 18, 2017
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has on Wednesday challenged the non-bailable arrest warrant issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against him in a contempt of court case in Islamabad High Court (IHC). The petition was filed by Babar Awan, counsel of PTI chairman Imran Khan. The petition argued that the ECP had no authority to issue non-bailable arrest warrant against the PTI chief. The petition further stated that the warrant issued by the commission on October 12 was therefore unconstitutional. Babar Awan said that the arrest warrant against Imran Khan should be set aside and proceedings initiated (by the ECP) against the petitioner may be declared void and unlawful.
