LAHORE (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan removed IGP Shoaib Dastgir and appointed Inam Ghani in his place on Tuesday. Shoaib Dastgir has been removed for his differences with the Lahore CCPO Sheikh Muhammad Umar. However, Sheikh Muhammad Umar will continue to work as the CCPO. Inam Ghani was recently working as Additional IG Southern Punjab. As many as five IGPs Punjab have been changed during the two-year tenure of the PTI government. Sources said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had approved the removal of Shoib Dastgir during a meeting of the federal cabinet, showing indignation at his attitude. Special Assistant to PM Shahbaz Gill said that the prime minister had appreciated Shoaib Dastgir, saying that he is an honest officer. "However, Shoaib Dastgir could not change the 'thana' culture. Changes are repeatedly being made as the government is not satisfied with the performance of the top officers," he added.
