LAHORE (92 News) – Intermittent rain and snow continue in parts of the country including Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) bringing down the mercury considerably leaving tourists and residents shuddering in cold in their homes on Wednesday. Light and heavy rainfall occurred at different places including Islamabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, while drizzle in Karachi also intensified cold in the metropolis. The rain inundated low-lying areas and triggered incidents of roof collapse, while the heavy rain crippled civic life in the twin cities bringing down the mercury. On the other hand, snow continues to fall after frequent intervals in Balochistan stranding people in their homes. People living in low-lying areas and the makeshift structures have been asked to shift to safe locations to avoid any loss due to possible roof or wall collapse. Lowari Top has been closed for all sorts of traffic due to heavy snowfall. According to District Administration Chitral, Lowari Top has received more than five feet snow during the last two days. The Advisory also called for placement of earth and snow clearing machinery at pre-identified vulnerable locations. It recommended sufficient stock of food, medicines and petroleum products for far-flung and snow bound areas. Earlier, five persons were killed and six others injured in rains-related incidents in Balochistan during the last two days.
