Incessant rain turns roads and streets into ponds, inundates low-lying areas in Lahore

LAHORE (92 News) - Incessant rain turned the roads and streets into ponds, creating difficulties for the people who are restricted to their homes.

The rain continuing for the last few several hours inundated the low-lying areas across the city. Several wards at Jinnah Hospital submerged in the rainwater. Several feet water accumulated at Johar Town, Muslim Town, Qartaba Chowk, Ichra, Walton Road, Chungi Amar Sidhu, Jain Mandar Chowk, Chauburji and Jail Road.

Gulshan-e-Ravi received the heaviest rain of 201mm, while Airport, Tajpura and Nishtar Town received 195mm, 193mm and 190mm. Traffic was disrupted on all roads. Two roofs collapsed in Raiwind and Chah Miran.

Owing to the heavy rain, over 160 feeders tripped and suspended the power supply. Several trains were delayed due to the incessant rain.

Meanwhile, several cities including Kasur, Allahabad and Jaranawala also received heavy rain. The Met Office has predicted the current spell of the rain is likely to continue till July 26.
