Incessant rains, snowfall claim nine lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR (92 News) - As many as nine people were killed in different accidents during the incessant rains during the past 24 hours.

The deceased include five children and a woman. The roof collapse accidents occurred in Peshawar, Lower Dir and Bajaur. Several cattle heads were also killed in the accidents.

The maximum rain has been reported 93mm so far. Severe snowfall is going on in the mountainous areas. Upper areas, including Kaghan and Shogran, have so far received up to three feet snow.

Owing to continuous snowfall, locals are facing numerous problems. Several incidents of landslide have been reported in Nathia Gali, Thandyani, Ayubia and Changla Gali. Educational institutions have been closed in these areas for five days.

The authorities have issued landslide warning. On the other hand, roads have been closed in Lawari Tunnel, Leepa Highway and roads in Kalam and Malam Jabba.

The Pak Army is continuing the rescue operation to rescue the trapped tourists.
