Increase in coronavirus cases: Punjab CM proposed to re-impose complete lockdown

LAHORE (92 News) – In the wake of a sharp increase in the coronavirus cases, the Establishment has proposed Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to re-impose the complete lockdown after Eid. According to sources, a high-level meeting will decide on whether to allow opening of markets and shopping malls till 10pm or not. They said that a strategy would be decided regarding the arrival of outsiders in Lahore. “Moreover, a strategy will be discussed to restrict the movement of citizens,” they said. They added that a strategy would be devised to conduct coronavirus testing on a large scale after Eidul Fitr. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has expressed a concern over violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) during Eidul Fitr and Chand Raat. He said that further decisions will be made by reviewing the situation after Eid. “The people should show responsibility and should not ignore the precautionary measures,” he said. The chief minister asked to citizens to celebrate Eid by maintaining social distancing.
