India denies Modi asked Trump to mediate Kashmir issue
NEW DELHI (AFP) – After US President Donald Trump comment about Kashmir Issue with Prime Minister Imrna Khan, India’s foreign ministry Monday denied Trump had been asked by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mediate the Kashmir conflict with Pakistan.
Trump made the claim while speaking from the Oval Office where he was hosting Prime Minister Imran Khan.
“We have seen President Trump's remarks to the press that he is ready to mediate, if requested by India and Pakistan, on the Kashmir issue. No such request has been made by Prime Minister Modi to the US President,” said Raveesh Kumar, official spokesman of India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
“It has been India's consistent position that all outstanding issues with Pakistan are discussed only bilaterally.”

US President Donald Trump offers mediation over Kashmir issue
Earlier, US President Donald Trump has offered mediation over the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India during a key meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan at Oval Office, White House.
Talking to the media, the US President Donald Trump said he would talk to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the Kashmir issue. “America can help reduce tension between Pakistan and India.”
He said that Pakistan will be a source of protecting one million lives in Afghanistan.
“Pakistan is a great country. I have several friends from Pakistan.”
He said that Indian PM Narendra Modi had also asked him for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
US President Donald Trump said that the US is reducing its troops in Afghanistan. “America has fought a long war in Afghanistan. There is no military solution to any problem.”
He said that the US is ready for whatever happens over the Iran issue. “Pakistan never tells a lie, but Iran does so.”
US President Donald Trump said that it is very difficult to reach an agreement with Iran.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said that President Donald Trump had invited him to visit the US. “Pakistan will fulfill the promises made with the US.”
He said that the US is the strongest country in the world and it could play its role in resolving the problems and bringing peace in the subcontinent. “The US president can bring both countries together. We have tried our best to hold dialogues with India to resolve the Kashmir issue.”
He said that Pakistan welcomes US offer to mediate the Kashmir dispute. “We should bring peace and stability in South Asia after ending harsh attitudes.”
“Pakistan is a great country. I have several friends from Pakistan.”
